Conflict Materials

In 2010, Congress passed the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act, which directs the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to issue rules requiring certain companies to disclose their use of conflict minerals if those minerals are "necessary to the functionality or production of a product" manufactured by those companies. Under the Act, those minerals include tantalum, tin, gold or tungsten.
Congress enacted Section 1502 of the Act because of concerns that the exploitation and trade of conflict minerals by armed groups is helping to finance conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) region in Africa and is contributing to an emergency humanitarian crisis.
Galco Industrial Electronics is aware of the conflict mineral reporting obligations under Section 1502 of the U.S. Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act. However, traditional component distribution activities, such as those performed by Galco Industrial Electronics, are not within the scope of the bill's reporting requirements. As a distributor we do not design, manufacture, or control the content of any products we distribute. Therefore, we must rely upon our manufacturer partners to advise us as to the conflict mineral status of the products we distribute.
Please note: Because Galco Industrial Electronics does not control the material content of the products we sell, we cannot complete web surveys, spreadsheets, and/or sign off on customer or vendor letters or documents related to Conflict Minerals due to related liability issues.
