Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS)
EU Directive 2011/65/EU, Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE), was enacted to further enhance the prevention of hazardous substances from entering the production process, thereby keeping them out of the waste stream.
RoHS is a European Directive aiming to control the use of certain hazardous substances in the production of new electrical and electronic equipment. It is a partner directive to the WEEE Directive (Waste in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) that controls the disposal and recycling of EEE.
