Bridge Rectifiers
A bridge rectifier is a diode bridge device that converts an AC input into a DC output. Bridge rectifiers provide full-wave rectification from a two-wire AC input, and is generally a low cost, low weight solution compared to three-wire transformers.
Bridge rectifiers are categorized by maximum average rectified current, maximum reverse voltage, maximum peak current, forward voltage, and maximum reverse current. Rectified current can be delivered as high as 1000A, with a voltage range from less than 1V to 1.1kV.
Bridge rectifiers are most commonly built into or wired in line with power supplies to transfer AC input power into the DC power that electronic devices can use. They can also amplify, smooth, or regulate the output signal.
