A printer is peripheral device or accessory that prints text or graphics onto paper. The printer can apply ink onto physical media using a number of different techniques, although two are common: inkjet and laser.
Inkjet printers spray ink onto paper to create the text or image. Laser printers etches the graphic over a negatively charged cylinder, which collects powered ink and transfers it to the surface.
Printers are widely used in commercial settings to deliver information. Larger versions print on standard letter paper and more. Smaller, handheld printers are available to print labels or receipts. These printers are durable for fieldwork and manufacturing environments, and often feature built-in keyboards to type and print information on-demand.
