Signaling Devices
Signaling devices are used to provide alarm and status notifications for machines, systems, processes, and environmental events. Their primary purpose is to provide simple situational awareness to technicians and operators when machinery is in use, when personnel are occupying a hazardous space for maintenance or repairs, or when there is an active emergency.

Signaling devices can be visual, audible, or both. Lighting equipment indicates operating equipment or hazardous events. They are typically equipped with ultra-bright LED lamp heads and designed to meet several safety codes.

Audible equipment like buzzers, sounders and alarms compliment visual signaling where lights may not visible.

The Edwards 51 Series AdaptaBeacon flashing lights with horns are designed to provide a bright visual indication utilizing special optics within a shatter resistant polycarbonate lens. The polycarbonate double fresnel lens ensures efficient light dispersion. This is accomplished with a series of complementing fresnels that cause the dome to "fill" when the light is operating. Beam distance is also increased with fresnel lenses. Lenses are available in six colors: red, amber, blue, green, magenta, and clear. The unique base design allows horn audibility while maintaining the unit's weatherproof integrity.
Designed for indoor or outdoor installation. May be direct, 1/2" (13mm) conduit, or box mounted on a 4" (102mm) octagon box. For weatherproof installation, units must be mounted vertically with lens facing up. May be corner mounted indoors using the Cat. No. CBR, corner mount bracket, or wall mounted indoors using the Cat. No. WBR, wall mount bracket. For additional protection against breakage, use Cat. No. 92-GRD lens guard.
Edwards flashing lights with horns can advise personnel in manufacturing, process and commercial areas when an operation is starting or stopping. Often used in airport baggage carousels. Usually used for signaling equipment malfunctions, security intrusions, or pinpointing problem locations. Can warn personnel that they are entering a restricted area or an area of high danger. May be used where a smaller light output is desired or where many multiple smaller flashing lights are specified.

Edwards 51XBR Series XTRA-BRITE LED beacons are combination visual and audible signaling devices, designed for indoor or outdoor applications. The integrated horn is synchronized with the flashing LED. The unit features a cast metal base that can be used as a junction box. The double Fresnel lens is made of shatter resistant polycarbonate, and is designed to magnify the super bright LED.

The Chameleon is designed to function as either a steady or flashing visual signal. It is designed such that any or all three lights can be activated by a PLC or contact closure. The first light activated will illuminate either steady or flashing (set by an internal jumper). If a second light is activated, the Chameleon cycles between the two colors. A third activation causes the Chameleon to cycle between all three colors: red, amber, and green or red, amber, and blue. One additional lens module and light source - strobe, halogen, incandescent or LED - can be added for a fourth signal.
The 108I Series features a multi-tone base module that allows the installer to select one of the following eight available tone options: stutter beep, continuous, 3 pulse horn, rapid siren, hi/lo, fast whoop, yeow and beep. The selected tone can be operated as an additional signal or used in conjunction with any of the visual signals. The signal is rated at 85 dB at 5 feet (1.63m). The 108-DN features the same eight tones but allows all to be activated over the DeviceNet network. The 108 is also available without tone capability in direct surface and 2 inch (51mm) pipe mount bases.
For indoor applications, may be vertically mounted with lenses facing up or down. For weatherproof installation, it is recommended that the unit be conduit mounted vertically with lenses facing up.

The Edwards 869 Adapta Beacon Series are low current, high decibel combination electronic horn/strobes for indoor use. The strobe and horn may be operated independently. They are engineered in a thermoplastic housing, and can be flush mounted. Available in Clear, Amber, Green, Red and Blue Lenses the 869STR has a strobe flash rate of 1 flash per second with a 1,000 hour strobe tube.

Providing an audible/visual warning, the LP7 sounder/strobe combines the features of a mini sounder with a fully integrated xenon strobe circuit. The result is an attractive unit suitable for internal or external locations where a combination of high sound output and visual signal is required.
The strobe color choices include amber, clear, green, blue or red. The unit comes with a standard shallow base. An optional deeper base allows 20mm diameter conduit entry.
Operating voltage ranges from 18-30VDC with an average of only 68mA current consumption.
The LP7 has two switchable tone patterns - "Sweeping" and "Continuous".
The LP7 has a range of 82dB-100dB @ 10' (92-110dB @ 1m), dependent upon tone selected. Volume control allows for 20dB of adjustment.
The LP7 features a bright xenon strobe that produces 0.7 Joules of flash energy with a flash frequency of 60 flashes per minute. The beacon will operate with any tone selected.
The Federal Signal Model LP7 sounder/strobe is PLC compatible. It is ideal for wall or panel mount applications where low voltage is required.

The 867STR mounts to the gray, corrosion resistant surface box supplied with the unit. The box measures 5 5/8" (143mm) square by 3 5/16" (84mm) deep.

The EG1 series of signals are the smallest, most compact audible and visible emergency signaling devices in the world. About the size of a deck of playing cards, these devices are designed to blend with any building environment. Edwards Genesis horn/strobes do not require bulky specular reflectors. Instead, an exclusive mask-and-cavity design, channels and conditions light to produce a highly controllable distribution pattern. Intensive development employing this new technology have given rise to a new benchmark in strobe performance - FullLight® technology.
The EG1-HDVM series horn/strobes offer 15 to 110 candela output, which is selectable with a conveniently-located switch on the side of the device. The EG1-HDVMH series offers 95 to 177 candela output. The candela output setting remains clearly visible even after final installation, yet it stays locked in place to prevent unauthorized tampering. Its horn output reaches as high as 99 dB and features a unique multiple frequency tone that results in excellent wall penetration and an unmistakable warning of danger. Horns may be configured for either coded or non-coded signal circuits. They can also be set for low dB output with a jumper cut that reduces horn output by 5 dB.
When installed with the Cat. No. EG1M Signal Master, strobe flashes from devices on the same circuit are synchronized to within 10 milliseconds of each other indefinitely. The Signal Master also permits independent horn control over a single pair of wires. Only one Signal Master is required per circuit. No separate backbox - simply snap it onto the back of the first signal on the circuit.
